International Women’s Day 2023

#EmbraceEquity

March 8th is International Women’s Day 2023 – a day to focus on gender equality – yes, but also on gender EQUITY as we celebrate the social, economic and political achievements of women globally.

International Women’s Day (IWD) has its roots in a 1909 campaign to improve the working conditions and pay of women in New York. The official IWD goes back more than 100 years when European countries joined the movement in the USA. This was then adopted by the United Nations in the 1970s.

The fight for equal rights continues, with focus on gender pay gaps, violence against women and ongoing employment inequalities. But this year the theme is moving on from a stance of equality to equity – to create an inclusive world and to focus on the inclusion of more women in digital.

Equity and digital inclusion are deeply embedded into the Vocaleyes mission. Through the use of our technology, we seek to empower hard-to-reach people to engage at a level that they can. For many women in caring and isolated situations, this may mean showing up online when they are able to.

Decision-making and ideas generation being open to all goes to the heart of what Vocaleyes does.

We recognise that equality might mean inviting everyone to a meeting whereas equity recognises that many people can’t come. Vocaleyes fills that gap, including everyone, offering a level of engagement that suits them where they are now.

Vocaleyes provides simple tools and training to ensure all stakeholders can, and will, be heard without fear of being trolled or identified publicly.
Our platform also gives a voice to those conditioned to stay silent.

Happy International Women’s Day 2023. Here’s to more women, everywhere, feeling empowered to exercise their influence and voice. Democracy is desperately in need of that. #EmbraceEquity with Vocaleyes.
